The EMIL application is intended mainly for students of the VŠCHT Prague, but it can also be used by employees or visitors of the school.
The application offers an interface to the most frequently used parts of the Student Information System. Without logging in, it is possible to use menus, maps of the buildings of the University of Science and Technology Prague and basic searches (persons, rooms, subjects).
The application is available as a web application. The current version can be accessed by:
- Via web browser at emil.vscht.cz (on desktop and mobile)
- As a mobile web app installed from a browser (via mobile Chrome on Android or via Safari on mobile iOS)
- Previously, the mobile app was available through the app stores (Google Play, App Store). These apps are no longer developed and are not available in the respective stores. If you have them installed on your phones, it is strongly recommended to uninstall these apps and use the browser mediated app instead (from a user perspective everything will be the same, just new customizations and features will be added to the app).
Detailed description of the app
EMIL collects information from the Student Information System and presents it in a form accessible from mobile phones. It includes real-time notifications for important news related to studies (e.g. exam result registration, change of term, rector's leave, etc.), maps of the school rooms with links to the timetable and other enhancements to facilitate studies from first year to engineers.
The application is designed primarily for students. For teachers and PhD students, meanwhile, it offers convenient access to the room maps of the University of Science and Technology.
The app also includes menus for all users in the canteens (with photos of the meals) and some popular catering establishments near the UCT Prague.
Maps of the rooms of UCT Prague
The maps in the app allow you to:
- there is a direct link for each room (can be sent to a colleague or added to an email signature),
- displaying a minimap, where you can see better the location of the room within the buildings,
- display of people in the room including contacts from telefony.vscht.cz,
- display of available information about the room,
- possibility to change floors easily.
Other features:
- search history display,
- possibility to select buildings to search in (by default technopark is omitted),
- the possibility to select the type of room (by default only teaching rooms, offices and labs are checked and e.g. toilets, warehouses, etc... are omitted),
- faster search and retrieval,
- links to the maps from exam dates and timetables,
- possibility to mark and share links to more rooms at the same time,
- highlighted rooms remain highlighted even when changing floors.
